Two Singaporean Bars Make The World’s 50 Best Bars 2015

SG50 might be over, but there’s more than enough #sgpride to go around with the announcement of the 2015 edition of The World’s 50 Best Bars in London last night. An annual poll for the industry, by the industry, the results are consolidated from the opinions of 412 industry experts on the panel, up from 334 last year.

Lauded as ‘the vanguard of better drinking in this island city state’, 28 Hongkong Street has moved up three spots to No. 7 on the list, thus clinching the regional award of Best Bar in Asia.

Manhattan Bar at Regent Singapore makes its debut on the list at No. 35 for being ‘unlike other luxury bars that are all form over function’.

The Bar Team at Quinary

Other bars in Asia that made the cut include Tokyo’s High Five, which has since closed after the voting process but we hear a bigger (and better) version is set to open. Fellow metropolitan Hong Kong also has two entries on the list, 50 Best newbie The Lobster Bar in Shangri-la Hong Kong in the 18th place and Antonio Lai’s Quinary at number 39.

The Artesian

As for the rest of the world, it came as no surprise that Artesian at Langham London takes home the title of the World’s Best Bar and Best Bar in Europe for the fourth year running, while New York City’s The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog holds steady at the number two spot. Rounding up the unbeatable top four include London’s Nightjar in third place and Employees Only, also NYC, at No. 4.

Operation Dagger

Before we go, we’d like to give a shout out to the other bars in Singapore who almost made it to the prestigious list this year – Operation Dagger (No. 57), Jigger & Pony (No. 59), and Tippling Club (No. 95). As the organisers released the 51-100 rankings last month in anticipation of the ceremony, we hope to see you climbing up the ladder next year!
