An island and province of Indonesia, Bali is home to most of the country’s Hindu minority. Luring visitors from all over the world with its arts and culture, gorgeous landscapes, and world-class surfing and diving, Bali is also part of the Coral Triangle, the global centre of marine biodiversity. It’s moniker, “The Island of The Gods”, is not without reason.

South Bali is probably the most tourist-populated part of Bali as this region includes the island’s administrative centre Denpasar, chic Seminyak, surfer central Kuta, the southernmost tip of the island Bukit Peninsula, laid-back Canggu, Jimbaran, Legian, high-end enclave Nusa Dua, and family friendly Sanur. For some of the best diving on the island, make a trip to Bali’s islands of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida, and Nusa Ceningan.

Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali, is aptly in the middle of the island, along with the central mountain range and the famous Ulun Danu Bratan Temple. The East of Bali is still very much off the beaten track with its coastal villages, Mount Agung (the highest mountain in Bali), and an active volcano, Mount Batur. Across the island in West Bali, you’ll find ferries to Java and the West Bali National Park, a sanctuary of the white Bali Starling (an iconic bird of Bali). The north of the island features quiet black volcanic sand beaches and the old capital city of Bali, Singaraja.
