The Weekly Grub: 5 Things To Eat and Drink in Singapore This Week

what to eat in singapore

This week, drink to excess at our favourite downtown gin haunt, celebrate the best of vino through a new wine festival, and savour tender dry-aged beef from the Emerald Isle. Also, try Japanese cuisine from two ends of the spectrum – traditional offerings of Nagasaki in an authentic omakase, and a sake pairing with the unlikeliest of partners in a one-night-only event.

1-Group’s Wine Lust Journeys: 6 Things to Do

If you think wine is snobby and inaccessible, this extravaganza might just change your mind. The 1-Group is organising its first ever wining and dining festival, Wine Lust Journeys, which will see a programme of wine adventures at four dining venues. This Sunday (27 Aug) at Botanico at The Garage, immerse in a 3-hour tasting session of a stunning selection of 69 wine labels for just $35 nett (top up for a 4-course brunch or another wine, water, and food masterclass by San Pellegrino and Culina). Over at Monti at The Fullerton Pavilion (Mon, 28 Aug), enjoy an elegant Italian 5-course wine pairing dinner featuring wines from Piedmont and Veneto at $148++. Again later in the week (Thu, 31 Aug), make your way up to Stellar at 1-Altitude to celebrate International Cabernet Day with six tasty blends from six winemakers ($50 nett) at a standing cocktail party, complete with lots of cheese.

And there’s more happening at The Summerhouse and Botanico at The Garage, from a unique 5-course wine-pairing ‘dinner in the vineyard’ experience ($125++) with premium vintages from Woodstock Wine Estate to an attractive ‘ONE’ deal, offering one free main course with purchase of one main course plus one bottle of Katnook, Montes, Woodstock, Leeuwin wine. When not downing frappes during her writing spiels, Megan can be found catching up on her favourite franchises or cajoling friends and family out for yet another Japanese dinner. An insane need to stay connected means you can reach her anytime – except on alternate weekends, when she’s found next to a TV screen, watching F1 cars go ‘round in circles.
