The Weekly Grub: 5 Things To Eat And Drink In Singapore This Week

Wines take centrestage this week as Marques de Casa Concha pairs their bottles with special dishes from twelve restaurants, while natural wine spot RVLT celebrates its second year with a beefy takeover. Pique your curiosity as New Ubin breaks the mould by serving up Singaporean tze char fare with fine French wines before ending the week with the new brunch offerings at LINO.

Breakfast and Brunch in a quiet neighbourhood

Located in the serene Binjai Park neighbourhood, LINO is bringing some excitement and energy with its new weekend breakfast and brunch menu. Curated by resident chef Joe, you’re looking at healthy and indulgent options like the guilt-free Papaya Bowl (S$14++) complete with acai-banana smoothie and the classic Italian Parma Ham Sandwich (S$15++). This heavier bite (they use crusty ciabatta-style crystal bread) is stuffed with premium ham, mozzarella, tomatoes, and pesto so you get fatty, meaty goodness in every bite.

Marques Perfect Match Season Two

Marques Perfect Match is back for its second season, challenging twelve leading chefs from known establishments such as Mitzo Restaurant and Bar, Salt Grill & Sky Bar, and The Botanic to pick their favourite wine from award-winning Chilean wine brand Marques de Casa Concha before conceptualising a dish that perfectly enhances the chosen wine’s complexity. That means your favourite pinot noirs, cab savs, and merlots might soon be paired with things like as Wine Poached Oysters, King Crab, and Wagyu Beef Cheek. Among others, of course.

The wine paring menu will be available till the end of October 2019 at these participating restaurants: Dusk, News & Gossip, Praelum, Smoke & Mirrors, Chef’s Table, Mitzo, Rabbit Carrot Gun, Ristorante Luka, Salt Grill & Sky Bar, The Botanic, Whitegrass, and Wine Universe.

French Wines and Singaporean tze char collide at New Ubin

The thought of pairing fine French wines with local hawker food might raise some eyebrows, but the old adage rings true: don’t knock it till you try it. For two special nights, the folks at New Ubin will be pairing the fine wines of the acclaimed Pierre Amadieu winery with truly Singaporean food. As a testament to New Ubin founder SM Pang’s wine pairing wizardry, delight your senses with the Pierre Amadieu Cotes Du Rhone Roulepierre Blanc paired with Impossible Meat Fries and Bak Kut Teh Shooters before indulging in the Pierre Amadieu ‘Le Pas de l’Agile’, paired with Pork Knuckle unabashedly done two ways: braised and crispy German-style.
