The Weekly Grub: 25 March 2015

March is such a foodie month that we regret stuffing you with more food (news). Actually, no, we don’t – because there can never be such a thing as too much food…right? This week, we have craft beer and cocktails, as well as new additions to the menu at a Spa Esprit concept and the Emmanual Stroobant group.

LeVeL33’s 33.17 Tuscan Chestnut Lager

The only microbrewery in Singapore with a spectacular view has entered the second quarter of the year with a really good seasonal brew in the 33.17 Tuscan Chestnut Lager. Brewed with Acqua Panna mineral water and chestnuts flown in from Italy, this beer is light enough for Singapore’s weather with the perfect hint of smokiness of roasted chestnuts. Whether you’re a beer geek or not, it’s definitely a must try.

New Additions to the Menu at House

House might be one of our favourite haunt for all types of fries, but we’re glad that they’ve widened the selection for the vegan, healthy, and #eatclean crowd. Vegans can now look forward to the hearty Warm Mushroom and Tofu Salad ($17), which tosses sautéed mushrooms with crispy tofu in a pert wafu dressing, as well as the Lean Green Pasta ($22), a dish of gluten free fusilli in an Asian herb pesto made with pumpkin seeds and walnuts. Carnivores, you haven’t been left out. We reckon you’ll find the Hanger Steak with Tomato Salsa & Tahini-Bacon Spud ($36) very satisfying.

New Cocktails at Anti:dote

Singapore Cocktail Week might be over, but there’s a new cocktail adventure to be had at the bar of the Best Male Bartender of the Year! Every cocktail on the menu (all priced at $23++) has a juicy story behind it, so if you’re curious, don’t be shy to find out more. We’re quite fascinated by The Tragedy of Tom Dooley – a mix of tequila, aperol, lime juice, lavender syrup, and egg white. For something more spirit driven, try the State of Seow, which combines jenever, cynar, becherovka, and cassis. For more details, see our full feature here.

Afternoon Tea at O’Coffee Club

For an afternoon tea set that doesn’t mock your palate, check out O’Coffee Club‘s newly launched three-tiered set ($28++, serves two) that’s laden with 11 savoury and sweet items. Think BLT and smoked salmon sandwiches, carrot cake, peanut butter macarons, chocolate eclairs, and raisin scones. Drinks – O’Coffee Club’s premium house coffees and Gryphon teas – are included in the set too. Just note that it’s only available daily (3-5pm) till 30 April 2015 at selected outlets: Millenia Walk, Paragon, Raffles City, Wheelock Place, Wisma Atria, and Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Saint Pierre introduces Menu du Jour

Now permanently open on Mondays, Saint Pierre at Quayside Isle has become a daily dining destination. On top of corkcage free nights on Mondays, the modern French restaurant has also launched set meals at $68++ per person. While the dishes will change weekly, you can expect crowd pleasers like Foie Gras Classic and Miso Cod to remain on the menu. Menu du Jour is available weekday (Mondays-Thursdays) dinners, 5.30pm to midnight, and weekend lunches, 11.30am-3pm.

(6/6/2016) Saint Pierre has relocated to 1 Fullerton Road, #02-02B One Fullerton, Singapore 049213.
