Smooth coffee & chilled vibes at Chye Seng Huat Hardware

Shortly after it opened earlier this month, three times in under one week I had people sending me links to Chye Seng Huat Hardware Coffee Bar (CSHH) telling me to go check it out.

Three times in under one week!

That has never happened. This place is well talked about…and for good reason…because it’s the brainchild of the ‘big pappas’ who in my book started the coffee revolution in Singapore – Papa Palheta.

Yes this is their brand spanking new flagship store. And it’s quite awesome.

I pretty much love everything about this place. But let’s break it down.

The interior – it’s so cool yet warm and cosy, the sort of place that you could just while away the hours in.

Just one look is all it takes to know that this place was absolutely made for coffee lovers…

I love the fact they have a little vinyl collection going on and a proper old school record player which, when we were there, was funking out some Motown classics.

Well I couldn’t just jump straight into the coffee but obviously it’s great. Rich and smooth and just mm…mm…mm. Now that’s my kind of brew. Available in Terra Firma and seasonal espresso blend. From $4 up for an espresso.

It ain’t all just about the coffee. Check out the tea too…you’ve just got to love how it’s served…

Sweet treats galore. Get involved with the Banana Cake – $4 for a gigantic wedge, lovely and moist and like it had many a smoodgy banana go into the making of it. We are also huge fans of the Chocolate Cake – $6 also for a massive piece, served up warm…the only thing I was wanting for was a dollop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

And if you’re stuck for inspiration, you can ask the barista about pairings from the CSHH Coffee Bar and the baker!

We didn’t get a chance to tuck into any of their Tummy Fillers but we have a sneaky feeling we’ll be back to try out their Beef Patties with onions, parsley and Cajun spice ($13) and their French Toast with Banana and Strawberries ($7.50).

Well there you go folks, broken down plain and simple, six reasons why CSHH is rather awesome. If you need any more reason to go…well…ummm..what’s wrong with you?
