Siriraj Medical Museum

Not a place to visit for the faint-hearted, the Siriraj Medical Museum holds a comprehensive collection of gruesome exhibits. Check out the morbid collection of preserved dead babies who suffered from genetic disorders, a room displaying parasites of all sorts, and a forensic room showcasing victims of violent murders and horrible accidents. You get the idea.

Getting there: Take the river shuttle near the Grand Palace. Catch the boat at Chang Pier or Prajan Pier, then disembark just across the river at Pranok Pier. The ride costs 3 baht.

When Joel’s not partaking in one of his shameless eating sessions, he likes to think of himself as a sponge – absorbing the mysteries and beauty of our world – be it through a good book or a wacky jaunt in a foreign country.
