Spa Review: The Fullerton Spa Is An Oasis in Singapore’s CBD

Late nights, stress, and long hours of hunching over your computer usually leads to dull skin, body aches, and knots in your shoulders that are just screaming to be kneaded out. While massage parlours are a dime a dozen in Singapore, places that can transport you away from the niggling thoughts and white noise in your head are far and few between.

Recently, we paid a visit to The Fullerton Spa, Fullerton Hotel‘s shiny, new in-house centre specially designed for quality R&R. Furnished in soothing, neutral hues, the consultation room is where we started the treatment process by conferring with our therapist regarding pressure preferences, health condition, and areas of our body that requires the most attention over a tumbler of home brewed ginger tea.

Consultation Room

It was a tough decision between The Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience and The Asian Heritage Signature ($170++); we chose the latter because it was a form of reflexology based rarely seen on hotel spa menus.

Based on the concept of life energy that flows through meridians of the body – also known as qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine – the 90-minute massage begins at the scalp, where pressure is applied to acupressure points to clear blockages in the meridians.

A deep-tissue massage follows, using warmed ginger, lavender, and black pepper oil (an invigorating blend by established UK brand Aromatherapy Associates). While the pressure point technique left us with a sense of uplifting energy, the long and strong slow strokes of the message lulled us into a state of deep relaxation – which made it a very well spent 90 minutes indeed!

After the rejuvenating experience, we stepped into their spacious and tranquil relaxation lounge for more tea and a healthy snack of nuts and dried berries. The lounge also stocks a wide variety of international newspapers and magazines for your reading pleasure.

Overall, the limited space might restrict the facilities available (the well-appointed changing rooms, steam room, and sauna make the set) at The Fullerton Spa, but the hospitality and excellent treatment is more than enough reason to return.

The Fullerton Spa at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is open 10am to 10pm daily. For reservations and enquiries, please call +65 6877 8182 or email [email protected].
