More edgy, more casual, and dare we say: a little more fun – Luka Moto is Thonglor‘s answer to Sathorn‘s Luka, and the two are the embodiment of contrast between Bangkok districts. The eclectic two-storey on the corner of Thonglor 11 and Sukhumvit 55 sets out to deliver brunch-worthy carbs that’ll get you sorted for the rest of the day (or night). The hipster hideout is outfitted with sexy rides and shiny bikes, and you can even take a ride on them too, thanks to their tie-in with luxury brand BMW.
Dig in to one of Luka Moto’s nutritious breakfast burritos – the Luka Breakfast Burrito (THB310), for example: flour tortilla filled with egg, sausage, black quinoa and avo, dressed with a spicy special sauce – and drool over the retro-styled muscle bikes displayed throughout.
If you’re looking for a little more protein, opt for the Wagyu Beef & Truffle Butter Sliders (THB350) for lightly-seared wagyu over generous portions of toasty buttery brioche.
Afternoon heat’s got you craving something refreshing? Hit the spot with Nikkei Fish and Chips (THB390) with seared poke tuna and yucca fritta cassava fries, which are less like crisp fries and lean more toward wedges of the chewier variety. Need something healther? Get an Açai Bowl (THB280) for explosions of fresh flavour in fresh banana coconut milk, house made granola and crunchy pomegranate.
Smoothie fanatics will know, getting a good blend in Bangkok can be a struggle. While the Wicked (THB170) isn’t perfect, we still appreciate its relatively chunkier peanut butter and kale blend. Arguably, the word “brunchtime” is synonymous to “daytime drinking”, and even if it isn’t, it’s still good enough reason to.
So if you want to skip on the coffee, sip on a punchy bloody Mary or their signature Luka Shrub Sodaaaah! (THB240) for a spicy concoction of pineapple vinegar, sparkling water, and Iron Balls gin (or vodka). The relaxed ambiance and buzzing crowd could easily explain why Luka Moto is quickly becoming Thonglor’s favourite brunch spot.
In fact, you’re more than welcome to bring your closest four-legged friends in for a steak or two, because it’s pet-friendly. Thirst-quenching drinks, hearty shakshuka and buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches are just the tip of the iceberg – they also procure a selection of Malou teas, decent coffee and vegan craft beers. When it’s always 11am somewhere in the world, you’ll always have a reason to drop by.
Luka Moto is located at Thonglor Soi 11, Bangkok, Thailand, p. +66 02 050 0469. Open daily 8am-5pm.
