Oasia Hotel Downtown and Novena: Your Invigorating Wellness Retreats In The City

If you’ve been anywhere near Singapore’s CBD, you might have noticed a towering red facade standing in the Tanjong Pagar vicinity since April last year. The second glance will make evident the lush greenery growing out from the building, and then you see its name: Oasia Hotel – a regal title suitable for one of the city’s most serene properties.

The Oasia Hotel Downtown is the latest property by Far East Hospitality, and the second of the brand after its big sister in Novena. We take a closer look at the two concepts to unveil what lies within these spectacular wellness retreats.

Oasia Hotel Downtown

Located near the centre of the business district, Oasia Hotel Downtown appeals to astute business travellers and tourists who wish to remain within the familiarity and comfort of the city. Can’t find your way back? Keep an eye out for the distinct red hue that’s even become the main subject of photographer Jean-Francois Rauzier’s Oasia Hotel, a hyperphoto recently exhibited at ART STAGE Singapore 2017.

Its vertical garden – which boasts 21 different species of creepers – gives some clues as to the hotel’s sustainable approach, featuring an abundance of open-air spaces and greenery to create a unique experience, and of course, to soothe the weary traveller. Step into the 12th floor lobby and feel the natural draft from all around, then marvel at the 30-metre tall sky terraces and organic architectural details courtesy of WOHA, a local firm.

Renowned designer Patricia Urquiola’s signature style is also apparent throughout the property and each of its 314 rooms. Earthy tones of copper and wood as well as plenty of living breathing plants for a holistic and coherent experience. The open lawn on Level 12 is perfect for mild exercise, yoga, and meditation, while rooftop pools on the 27th floor as well as an exclusive Club Infinity Pool will take the top-of-the-world feeling to another level. Needless to say, the view is great, featuring vistas of old Singapore and the CBD , and the world-class port.

For some healthy bites, The Marmalade Pantry offers a special all-day dining for guests centred around modern bistro cuisine and fresh ingredients. Eat well, live well, right? Unwind over some of Singapore’s best gin-based cocktails at Cin Cin, the popular craft gin bar on the first floor.

Oasia Hotel Novena

On the outskirts of town, Oasia Hotel Novena is the first Oasia property, and just like its newer counterpart, the hotel offers a restorative retreat for wellness-conscious travellers away from the bustling city, while still being accessible enough to prime spots like Orchard Road. With a total of 428 rooms, look out for an understated elegance and reassuring calmness in the property’s interior design, conceptualised by cutting-edge firms Super Potato from Japan and Singapore’s Ong & Ong.

Inside the hotel lobby, be welcomed by Oasia’s signature scent – an uplifting potpourri of lavender, lemon, and black tea infused with coriander ginger. It’s an immediate rush of calm that’s accentuated by the building’s high ceilings, large wooden lounge, and breathtaking stone wall. There is the same culinary concept – The Marmalade Pantry – on the ground floor, as well as a special in-room dining menu full of healthy options.

Our favourite part of the hotel is on Level 8, where a ridiculously tranquil terrace accented by bamboos and stones set in a natural garden scape awaits. Combine that with a sauna and steam room, sunken deck chairs in the 20-metre lap pool, and a relaxing jacuzzi, and you’ve got a respite like no where else in the city.

Those who opt for Club Rooms will enjoy privileges like access to the highly-lauded Club Lounge on Level 22, where you’ll find The Living Room and exclusive pool facilities, complimentary evening cocktails, wellness drinks, and premium rooms decked out in elegant wood, stone, and fabric textures.
