Last Nights for Twelfth Night – Well worth it…

Following the success of previous Shakespeare’s in the park, SRT take Twelfth Night to the stage at Fort Canning Park – and rightly so. Surrounded by picnics at twilight, Fort Canning identifies itself as the perfect spot for a romantic night under the stars with all the trimmings. Staying true to Shakespeare’s intent, the al fresco scene makes this perfectly executed comedy shine as a unique piece of performance art in Singapore.

For those of you unfamiliar with the play the plot is, like most Shakespeare plays is tangled and gripping. You’ll witness a complex love web, a girl posing as a boy, wooing, rejection, yellow stockings and much more.

It’s difficult to pinpoint an outstanding performer in a play packed with such incredible talent, but Feste played by Adrian Pang, the Best Actor award winner from The Dresser and Much Ado About Nothing, takes centre stage for us as performer of the night. His exceptional diversity and comic stance illustrates the character in true Shakespearean form.

If you’re looking for a night of escapism, whether it is with family, friends or a partner, then Twelfth Night will provide you with just the excuse you need to drift away from reality. Come equipped with cheese, wine, chocolate and all things fabulous and let the actors craft the world of Shakespeare around you from the comfort of your blanket.

Twelfth Night is in its last few days of showing, with the final performance on the 20th May.
