Enter Google Maps, type cafés in Singapore, and you’ll find that there are literally hundreds of red markers showing you where to get a cuppa coffee in the city. Yes, Singapore’s café craze is real, with cutesy cakes, free Wifi spots and the coffee art of fancy baristas all-too-familiar sights in the city.

After all, Singaporeans love finding places to escape the beating sun and its sweltering heat, and nothing does the job better than a cosy, comfortable café to retreat to for the day.  That being said, the growing diversification of cafés in Singapore continues to astound.

Old-timers Kith Café and Jones The Grocer have traditionally been THE places to hang out and chill with friends, but their dominance in the café food chain has been challenged by an onslaught of humble HDB enterprises such as Milk & Honey and W39 bistro.

This collective mix of new establishments popping up in the heartlands is not only a breath of fresh air (and convenience), it also embodies the creativity, work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit of a new generation of ambitious young Singaporeans.

Throw in the emergence of unique café concepts such as Chye Seng Huat, Ukulele Movement and Cat Café Neko No Niwa, and you’ll find it hard to oppose Singapore’s bid to have the finest café scene in the region.
