Event Details

Royal Plaza on Scotts and its award-winning buffet restaurant, Carousel, will participate in Earth Hour for the tenth year running on Saturday, 30 March, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. The hotel will switch off non-essential lights and dim the lobby.

Carousel will continue its yearly tradition of lighting up the buffet counters during the lights-off with soy candles, a more eco-friendly alternative to paraffin wax candles. Guests are also invited to do the same at their tables as a gesture of support, switching up the usual bright and lively atmosphere for a cosy and intimate one. Just for the night, Carousel will amp up the ambient of dimmed surroundings by transforming its iconic birthday symphony into a LED dance. Watch as the service talents bust out their self-choreographed dance moves, complete with neon bracelets and costumes illuminated with recycled LED lights.

Messages about Earth Hour will be shared on the televisions screens around the hotel to inform guests about the event. They are encouraged to take part by switching off unused electronic devices and lights in their rooms.

Just for the dinner buffet, Carousel will feature an organic salad and home-grown herbs station with some of the greens freshly harvested from the hotel’s very own rooftop garden straight to the buffet counters. This is part of the restaurant’s effort to reduce its carbon footprint by eliminating the need for transportation. Look out for the home-grown greens such as butterhead lettuce, micro cress, thyme, rosemary, oregano and basil. They will also be part of the following Earth Hour exclusive dishes:
• Baked Fillet of Sole with Thyme and Basil, Orange Salsa and Capers Butter Sauce
• Ratatouille with Roasted Artichoke, Butter Mushrooms and Olive and Basil Pesto
• Whole Baked Snapper with Herb Pesto in Parchment Paper
• Slow-roasted O.P Beef Ribs with Rosemary
• Traditional Roast Chicken with Herb Charmoula

New to the buffet is the recently launched Garden Desserts – where recipes call for the use of garden ingredients not commonly incorporated into sweet treats. Guests are in for a (healthy!) surprise as they have a taste of these yummy creations:
• Parsnip and Mixed Fruit Cake
• Beetroot and Chocolate Cake
• Pumpkin Tart
• Basil Trifle
• Sweet Potato Cake
• Coconut and Corn Cake

The Earth Hour dinner is available on Saturday, 30 March, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, at $88 for adults and $49 for children. For online reservations, visit www.carouselbuffet.com.sg. For enquiries, contact Carousel at 6219 3780 or email [email protected]. All prices are subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes.
