From Wonderfruit in Thailand to Epizode in Vietnam, Organik in Taiwan to The Labyrinth in Japan, Air Festival in Bali to Sulafest in India, folks living in this part of the world have been spoilt in recent years with the slew of electronic music festivals sprouting up across the region. If you’re itching for yet another music festival with a curated programming of quality House and Techno music, look no further than Equation who will return for their second year at Son Tinh Camp, just one hour away from Hanoi from 6 to 8 April 2018.
Equation is a three-day boutique festival that celebrates quality dance music from Asia and beyond in a peaceful surrounding circling the Dong Mo Lake. With a music programming curated by the folks behind Savage in Hanoi and Cliché Records in Hong Kong, the festival will fuse together local and regional talents with international acts to offer an eclectic musical journey blending house, techno, disco, fun, kand the indescribable.
With two rostered stages and a third stage dedicated to ambient music for down time, we reckon there will be a genre that goes with your mood. Expect a line-up of the movers and shakers in the Asian community such as Vietnam’s Hibiya Line and Quan, Malaysia’s Johnnyvicious, Indonesia’s Jonathan Kusuma, Hong Kong’s Ocean Lam, and Philippine’s Mikail, as well as international guest acts like San Soda, Answer Code Request, Kreshik, and Andy Hart. In addition, the folks at Equation has taken the network one step further by providing a platform for club venues in Asia – such as The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City, Safe Room in Bangkok, and XX XX in Manilla – to “takeover” one of their stages and showcase the best of the clubs’ local and international residents.
If everything we’ve mentioned isn’t sufficient to entice you, festival goers can also look forward to the grassy forest landscape (lake included), local food cooked by some of Hanoi’s best eateries, leisure activities such as yoga classes, and film screenings!
