Ginett is a towering space complete with an open mezzanine and private booths, and it’s one of our favourite spots for French wines by the glass at pocket-friendly prices. We’re talking a list of over 70 labels starting from $6 per glass and $30 a bottle — to be relished over hearty European classics and farm to table special. On Wednesdays, toast to 1-for-1 specials with selected Grand Cru wines from 6pm.

Wine Connection Bistro

Wine Connection is like the Keisuke of wines: they’re everywhere, and offer great value when it comes to cheap wines. Featuring a list of more than 30 varieties from all over the globe, you’ll find many as cheap as $7 per glass or $25 for a full bottle. They might not be the best you’ve tasted, but for gathering with friends over platters of cheese, they serve their purpose and might even surprise you.

Elbow Room by Drinks & Co

Elbow Room by Drinks & Co is a fun concept where the food is good and the drinks even better — wines included. Home to a bit of the banking and corporate crowd, this retail shop and bar space can’t be beat when it comes to keeping it low. Starting at $17 for a whole bottle of white during happy hour, this is the place to knock back a few in a relaxed atmosphere.

Merci Marcel

This pretty French brasserie, which first opened in Tiong Bahru, doubles as a wine bar with a rather affordable French wine list. Of course, having a gorgeous patio garden area out back helps to amp up the tippling experience. While more popular labels like the Domaine Bonnet Huteau Muscadet 2015 and Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf du Pape 2013 go from $58 per bottle, you can also order appellations that start at $8 per glass.

Praelum Wine Bistro

Praelum is the home of the interactive wine experience, offering everything from taster glasses (from $2.50) up to full pours that range between the super reasonable all the way to $125 for really exclusive labels. Wines are sold by the glass via the cool Enomatic and Coravin systems, with new wines being added every week you visit. And trust us, their 1000 bottle-strong walk-in cellar is quite the sight.

Verre doesn’t serve up wine at dirt cheap prices, but it doesn’t serve dirty cheap wines either.
