It’s set to be a great weekend for shopping with the Great Singapore Garage Sale and Public Garden’s annual Christmas market. But before that, groove to some funky tunes with some of Singapore’s most soulful artists at The Powder Room and at Pangaea. Book lovers, don’t miss local literary stalwart BooksActually’s ‘Homes’ exhibition at The Substation.

Charlie Lim and Eun Taek Kim of The Mothership swap their usual guitar and keys weaponry for drums and bass while Dru Chen leads with his signature snappy falsetto and hollering belts. The trio will take on covers of select 1990s luminaries like Jeff Buckley, D’Angelo and Maxwell, plus a handful of slinky Chen originals.

10 Years of BooksActually
BooksActually has long been a literary utopia, especially since they’ve started hosting the most prolific Singaporean authors in its space. Its achievements include being a full-fledged bookstore, a publishing-house, a refuge for readers, watering hole for writers, and home to three beautiful cats. Inventing your life’s own meaning is allowed, being different does not make you a subversive, and success can come in the form of courage and creativity.
Join them for their anniversary celebrations as they present an exhibition that aims to recreate the previous “homes” of Singapore’s leading independent bookstore.

The Great Singapore Garage Sale (#GSGS) is the place for 50 year-old Singapore clothes, toys, furniture, ornaments, knick knacks, electronic goods and more to find a new home for another 50 years. Besides second hand bargains, there’s face painting and balloon modelling for the kids, beats by DJ Seconds Crew, and snacks for the shoppers!
The Great Singapore Garage Sale will be held on 21 November 2015 at 18 Tampines Industrial Crescent from 11am to 5pm.
Sounds Galore @ Pangaea
Lovers of soul, reggae, ska and Motown music can look forward to dancing their feet off as SoundsGalore50 returns with spins from some of the best vinyl-only DJs from Singapore, Asia, the UK and beyond. Organized by Singapore Soul Club, this very special night of great music boasts a truly international line-up of DJs spinning pure vinyl for your musical pleasure.
They include: Major Lens (UK), Dr Phil (UK) and Dallas Hyde (UK) bringing old school Wigan Casino soul to the floor; Remy LePew (FR) going 60s classic soul and pop Fresh S (UK) spinning the freshest hip hop; Carl Hinds (UK) tearing up the dancefloor with the best in 70s and 80s rare groove; Tiel (BELGIUM) – bringing funky soulful house; and DJ Gonzo (MEXICO).
