5 Things To Do In Singapore This Week: 8th July To 14th July 2019

You can always count on food festivals and parties to keep you going. Gastronomes will be well-satisfied at STREAT, while the popular Strawberry Space series returns for all the ravers out there. Also back in town is the renowned Cirque du Soleil with their latest show: KURIOS!

Exhibition Openings & Book Launches: Mindy Tan & Charmaine Poh

Even though Pride Month has concluded, we can still show our support for our LGBTQ friends. Local street photographers Mindy Tan and Charmaine Poh will be hosting their events, The Hour Before She Sleeps and How She Loves respectively, conveying the stories of third-wave feminism and female couples in Singapore. Candid and having no boundaries, you’ll be able to catch the artists in action during the launches.

Keep an open mind on 10 July 2019 7pm – 9pm, at Objectifs – Centre for Photography and Film. Admission is free, though the exhibition is restricted to 18 and above. Visit the official page here for more information.

STREAT 2019

The Singapore Food Festival is back, and you know that means you’re never leaving with your stomachs empty. Relatively new restaurants such as JAM at SIRI HOUSE and The Feather Blade will be keeping you well-fed, alongside established names like Meatsmith, WokinBurger, and more. Long story short, we’ll be low-key hoping that our waistline doesn’t expand at the end of it all.

Eat to your heart’s content from 12 July to 13 July 2019 5pm – 11pm, at The Promontory@Marina Bay. Visit the Facebook page here for more information.

Strawberry Space Open Air feat Dimitri From Paris

Needless to say, Saturday is almost always better some partying action. Embrace the seafront breeze as Strawberry Space welcomes Parisian DJ Dimitri, who spin records ranging from from 70s Funk to House. Before the headlining hits from Singapore-based Fat Fish Familia and Ice Cream Sundays, you can warm up your dancing feet with DJs Shigeki and Aurora. Go wild or go home, am I right?

Dance with the sand on your feet from 13 July to 14 July 2019 2.25pm – 3am, at Wave House Sentosa. Tickets are priced from $25, available here. Admission is restricted to 21 and above. Visit the Facebook page here for more information.

Super S24 Qualifiers

With more than 1300 dancers competing, we’re waiting with bated breath to witness the crème de la crème of the local dancing scene pushing the boundaries of creativity. Three category qualifications will take place: the Primary Finals (16 teams); Secondary Red and White Divisions (18 teams); and Open Qualifiers (21 teams). And special kudos to participants of the Open Qualifiers, who will be representing various ASEAN countries and judged by a renowned international panel.

Witness the groove at Our Tampines Hub. Primary Finals will take place on 13 July 11am, Secondary Red and White Divisions on 13 and 14 July 4.30pm – 2.30pm respectively, and Open Qualifiers on 14 July 6.30pm.

KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities

When you see the massive tents being constructed at Marina Bay, you’ll know that the circus season is finally upon us. This time, acrobatic legends Cirque du Soleil is set to impress us once again with a brand new theatrical performance – KURIOS, which will be playing in Singapore for the very first-time. Be prepared to be transported to the 19th century as you witness technology and acrobatic stunts intertwining with each other. You’ll probably question the laws of physics after this.

Be in the audience to aerial acts from 6 July to 4 August 2019, at Bayfront Avenue, beside Marina Bay Sands. Tickets are priced from $99, available here. Visit the official website here for more information.
