5 Things To Do In Singapore This Week: 23rd to 29th December 2019

It’s the final stretch before 2020, and with Christmas taking centerstage this week, it’s nice to take a little breather from the festivities and gatherings with some Lo-Fi tunes along Ann Siang or check out Singapore’s local Malay talents in the youth music festival. Then, head on over to Zouk for a night of electronic jams with guest DJ Will Sparks before savouring delectable meats with irresistible beats at Camp Kilo.

Beers, Cocktails, and Lo-Fi House

We’re back again this week at White Label Records for another night of Lo-Fi House tunes coupled with affordable house pour cocktails and Pabst Blue Ribbon during happy hour. For those unfamiliar, Lo-Fi House is a laid-back and mellow genre deeply soaked in 90s deep house sound with the analogue notes of cassette and the retro-futurism of synths and keyboards. It’s going to be a chill night of vibing and relaxing as you move to the beautiful pieces of emotional house.

Lo-Fi HOUSE to DRINK to is happening on 27 December 2019 from 8pm – 1am at White Label Records, #01-01 Ann Siang House, 28 Ann Siang Rd, Singapore 069708.

Zouk’s Winter Wooski

One of the most exciting electronic acts to break out of Australia, Melbourne-born DJ Will Sparks will be making a stopover at Zouk for their Winter Wooski. You may know him from his signature remixes of global hits such as Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ and The Chainsmokers’ ’Selfie’, or from his numerous world tours and stage performances including Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and Electric Daisy Carnival.

Zouk Winter Wolski feat. Will Sparks supported by Hong is happening on 27 December 2019 from 10pm – 4am at Zouk Singapore, 3C River Valley Rd, The Cannery, Singapore 179022, p. +65 9006 8793. Admissions are at S$35 for ladies and S$45 for men.

Jam along to the Malay youth music festival

Hosted by local band The Stoned Revivals, a four piece outfit whose accolades and portfolio span across multiple genres and decades, Gala Laga ’19 is a Malay youth music festival that celebrates the vibrant homegrown music scene in Singapore. The festival will feature a lineup of Malay musicians and artists performing the unexpected.

Gala Laga ’19 is happening on 28 December 2019 from 4.30pm – 10.15pm at Wisma Geylang Serai, 1 Engku Aman Turn, Singapore 408528.

BY/BY: A study of intimacy and memory

BY/BY is an installation of two parts, focussing on adjacency, and the opacity of a relationship with someone who’s no longer around.  A culmination of a year-long practice, artist Yen Phang invites viewers to share an intimate moment with him through the immediacy of the sensorial, to come to terms with an intimacy and the resulting memories of someone that’s long gone and out of reach.

BY/BY is happening from now till 28 December 2019, 11am – 7pm at Supernormal.sg, 101 Desker Rd, Singapore 209623.
