5 Things To Do in Singapore This Week: 16 To 22nd July 2018

It’s time to party this week! Bartender Invitational

Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition, especially when it’s between the best of the best? Singapore plays host to Restuarant, Pub & Bar Asia’s inaugural Bartender Invitational 2018 happening this week.

Join the excitement as four Bartender of the Year winners from four of The Bar Awards’ cities – Macau, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore – compete for the title of the ultimate Bartender of the Year. Legends like Nikita Matveev of Via Rica, Jay Khan of COA, Kho Chee Kheong of Coley and Pahit, and local homeboy Vijay Mudaliar from Native will battle it out from 17-19 July 2018. Are we ready for the world’s first neutral bartending competition? Hell yeah, so come join the festivities at the opening party held at Anti:dote on 16 July 2018, the pop-ups around the various cities on 17 July, and the cocktail party at Jigger & Pony on the 18th.

Pink Dot 2018

Go pink this Saturday and celebrate the freedom to love at Pink Dot 10 and be a part of the O.G LGBTQ-affirming event as it marks this milestone. Held at the iconic Hong Lim Park, join other open-minded Singaporeans and celebrate equality and an inclusive society with a picnic, concert and party of epic proportions. Drop by the Pink Dot Community Tent and visit 25 LGBTQ community and support groups to learn more about them and stand together as we declare We Are Ready to embrace diversity and stand with our LGBTQ friends and family members.

Pink Dot 10 is happening on Saturday, 21st July 2018 at Hong Lim Park. Please bring along Pink/Blue IC for identification purposes.

Jazz In July: Japanese Jazz Party

The Japanese jazz scene is hotter than ever and lucky you,  Esplanade Presents: Jazz in July is bringing the Japanese Jazz Party to you. Join TRI4TH and CALMERA, two of the coolest jazz acts from the Japanese live house scene for a high energy evening of party jazz. Come prepared for a Horns Riot with trumpet sounds mingling with sexy saxophones notes in this double bill concert. And don’t forget your dancing shoes!

Japanese Jazz Party: Horns Riot is happening on Friday, 20 July 2018 at 8pm. Tickets are priced at $40 and available here.

Odesza

Its been a long time coming but finally, the insanely popular ‘underground’ electronic dance duo, Odesza, are on Southeast Asian soil. This Friday, get ready to experience the one of a kind live set that up until now, we’ve only read about – an 11-piece ensemble that includes a horn section, a marching-band drumline and let’s not start on the stunning visuals. Having produced three albums, the most recent being A Moment Apart that brings with it plenty of feels, let Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight spread some of their magic around as you experience one of the best nights of 2018.

ArtScience Late: Green is the Colour of my Heart by Marc Nair

This Thursday, spare a thought for the environment at ArtScience Late: Green is the Colour of my Heart. This performance focuses on delving deeper into the complex relationship we have with the natural world we inhabit. Featuring poetry by Marc Nair, music by .gif (just back from their European tour) and incredible visuals by Wu Jun Han, this multifaceted performance will leave you both inspired and reflective.

ArtScience Late: Green is the Colour of my Heart is happening on Thursday, 19 July 2018 at the Expression Gallery on level 4 of the Art Science Museum from 8pm. Free on a first-come-first-served basis, do not there is limited capacity.
