10 Questions with Hot Since 82

Born and raised on Athersley South council estate in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, English, Daley Padley is better known by his moniker, Hot Since 82.

Having started his DJ education at the age of 17, Hot Since 82 played 12-13 hour sets each Sunday at a club in his hometown. His residency soon saw queues around the block, becoming the number one after-party destination for clubbers. As word got around, the next stop was a 2006 residency at Cream Ibiza in Amnesia under the banner of Leeds club Glasshouse.

As the proverbial rest became history, Hot Since 82 will be making his debut at ZoukOut in Singapore this year. We managed to get him to share with us his first residency at Pacha Ibiza, his excitement for ZoukOut, and Knee Deep in Sound.

Where are you based at the moment?

In the North of England in a county called Yorkshire.

Describe your surroundings right now.

Lots of trees, fields, and sheep!

You mentioned Ibiza is like your second home. When was the first time you went there?

Wow, that was years ago. I must have been in my early teenage years.

How was your first residency at Pacha Ibiza?

The energy, the crowd, everything was just brilliant for our first summer residency.

What’s next in store for Knee Deep in Sound?

We’ve nearly finished our UK tour which will come to a climax in London on New Years Day, then it’s off to Mexico for BPM! We’ll also have another 8-track album to come as well as a string of exciting releases!

Besides music, what other interests do you have?

Star Wars, my dog and experimental cooking!

What is the hardest thing you have learned since becoming a full-time artist?

When I used to travel alone to shows in the early years, it can be extremely lonely, especially after a few consecutive late nights and early mornings!

It’s going to be your debut at Zouk Out. Are you excited?

Can’t wait, I’ve only heard good things.

You’re on the road a lot. We all know touring can be a drag, but what’s the best part about it?

The new friends I’ve made along the way and all over the world!
